Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I get a pet carer if I am going on holiday?
If you go on holiday, taking your pet out of its home and putting them into temporary accommodation can sometimes be distressing for them as their routine is disrupted and they are away from their owners. This along with an an strange environment, being surrounded by other animals that are usually making quite a bit of noise can often be too much for them to deal with.
Pet carers are great for pets that find boarding stressful. There is little difference in cost and the bonus is that your house gets looked after while you are away too.

For dog boarding with a difference I can't recommend The Paw Seasons enough.
There are no kennels, just warm cosy beds and open arms. Your dog goes on their own little holiday while you do too.

I'm bogged down at work, can you help?
Dogs need walking and pets need feeding, and if you're stuck at work three hours later than normal or have a dinner date that you need to rush off to then your pets normal routine will be disrupted.
I offer a key collection service which means that I can come to your workplace or meet you nearby and collect your house keys. I then care for your pet before returning your keys back to you at your desired location.
This means you can get on with what you've got to do without having to worry about your pet.

My pet is difficult to look after, can you cope with that?
You get grumpy people, stubborn people, shouty people, nervous people and some people who are just down right difficult!
Animals are no different, they are individuals with their own personality and this should not be forgotten. All personality traits are what makes all pets unique.

If your pet requires medication then please be assured that I am capable of doing it in your absence.
Not only do I often administer a variety of medications for some of our guests at the Paw Seasons, one of my cats went into intensive care at the age of two and required medication in a tablet form twice daily for two years. I know all too well how pets react to medication, and how they need some extra fuss and attention after wards to ease their nerves.

How can I trust you? Are my home, keys and pet safe in your care?
I have full public liability insurance for pet caring and dog walking as well as transporting pets in my car.  I have held a clean UK driving license for eight years.

I have been a key holder in various jobs for over eight years. Once for a magistrates court as a cleaning supervisor and most recently as a retail manager for a multi-million pound mail order business. This means I am highly experienced in opening and securing large and small premises, with or without alarm systems.

Addresses are not attached to keys, nor are they stored in the same property.

References can be obtained from The Paw Seasons or Chemical Records if required.

What happens if I need to cancel?
If circumstance has it that you no longer need my services then all I ask is that you give me as much notice as possible.

What happens in an emergency?
I request an emergency telephone number, so if you are away on holiday this could be someone who you trust to make a decision on your behalf.
Your phone number or the emergency phone numbers are kept to hand at all times, so you or your trusted emergency helper are informed immediately if a problem should arise.

Will I meet you before the day your services are required?
Absolutely! It's good for you and your pet to meet me well in advance so we can discuss all aspects of their care and also to get to know each other.
If there are any concerns or questions then you are welcome to ask me during this time or via email.
At present, I do all dog walking and pet care myself and have no helpers, so you get to meet your pet carer in person.

Can I contact you to see how your getting on?
I can send text updates for those away on holiday, but you are more than welcome to call me for a chat about how your pet is getting on.
